Always be curious.
Don’t be shy about ignorance: if you find something odd ask that stupid question.
If you look at something and find it strange, look at it twice. Take a photo. Ask someone what the hell is it. Take a photo upside down.
Carry a camera with you. You may need it.
Be a tourist, always, everywhere, everywhen. Instead of doing that boring path you do every day, take a short-cut, even though it takes longer. You may find something interesting.
Hearing something strange? Find where it comes from and why it sounds strange to you.
Remember that tasteful dinner you had last week? Try to make it at home, experimenting. It will most certainly taste different, but you will learn something from doing it.
When you are out of town ask the local people: they know better. You have nothing to talk about? Doesn’t matter: just invent something, ask about the yearly festival, not about weather.
See something strange with some sequence of numbers or trends? Find out the underlying cause of such a deviation. It does not matter if the reason is somehow not related or even stupid: the path is the important bit.
“The important thing is not to stop questioning”
A. Einstein
